ACE Team Tennis Championships – FAQ
When is the tournament?
Sunday, May 31 from 8:30 AM – 2:00 PM
Where is the tournament being held?
At the Tufts Tennis Center (161 College Avenue, Medford, MA)
Parking is available on campus
Bathrooms are available on-site
What is the tournament format?
There are 6 teams total
Each team consists of 8 players, organized into 4 doubles pairs
Each pair is ranked #1–#4 by skill level
Each doubles pair will compete in a round robin against the corresponding pair (same level) from the other teams.
How does the round robin work?
Each match consists of 8 total games
No-ad scoring (each game is decided by a single point at deuce)
Every game won counts as 1 point toward your team’s overall score
How do teams advance to the finals?
At each level (#1–#4), the top 2 teams from the round robin advance to a final match
Finals results also contribute to your team’s overall point total
How is the overall team champion determined?
The champion is the team with the highest total points, calculated by:
All games won in the round robin, plus
Any games won in the finals
Are there prizes?
Yes!
Trophies will be awarded to champions and finalists
The overall team champion will win the ACE Cup and have their names engraved
Will there be food/snacks?
Yes. There will be a wide range of snacks - granola bars, fruit, drinks, nuts, etc.
There will be bagels from Goldilox in Medford for breakfast and sandwiches from American Provisions for lunch.
We usually go to a local bar afterward and refresh. Past champions have drunk their beer from the Championship Cup (it’s a little leaky
What is the fundraising component?
Each team is expected to raise $3,000
With 8 players per team, the goal is for each player to reach out to their network (friends, family, colleagues) for support
Is there an incentive for fundraising?
Yes!
The team that raises the most money will receive a +10 point bonus toward their overall score (final bonus may increase)
What if our team is struggling to reach $3,000?
Please ask for help early—we’re happy to provide ideas or support to help your team reach the goal.
Can we invite spectators?
Absolutely!
We encourage you to invite friends and family to come watch and support.
